Legendary Mario creator on AI: Nintendo is “going the opposite direction”
Miyamoto's statement comes a few months after a more noncommittal position Nintendo President Shintaro Furukawa took in a July investor Q&A. "Generative AI, which is becoming a big topic recently, can be used in creative ways, but we recognize that it may also raise issues with intellectual property rights," Furukawa said at the time.

Nintendo To Go In 'Different Direction' To Current AI Trends, Says Miyamoto
In fact, famed creator Shigeru Miyamoto pretty much said as much during a recent interview with The New York Times (thanks, IGN ). In discussing Nintendo's ongoing approach with game development, he mentioned AI as a key topic that the company is aware of, but perhaps not interested in pursuing (at least, not in the same way as its peers).

Nintendo has chimed in on AI twice, via Shigeru Miyamoto, and via their fabled legal department. As reported by Nintendo Everything, Miyamoto shared some off-the-cuff remarks with the New York Times about the now popular AI model technology that has seemingly overtaken the tech world.
