CHICAGO (CBS) — Investigators are calling a fatal crash in Chicago's South Loop a homicide. Giselle Chavez, 21, was killed early Saturday morning when the car she was in was hit by a tow truck. Her sister and a 19-year-old man were critically injured.

A 29-year-old man was dead on the scene of a traffic crash early Monday on the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side.

Thieves crashed a vehicle after carjacking a woman at gunpoint Thursday night in the Washington Heights neighborhood, according to police. It happened just before 11 p.m. in the 9900 block of South Halsted Street.

Giselle Chavez, 21, was killed after she and two others were ejected from a car during a crash on Roosevelt Road, authorities said.

The victim was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. Kris Habermehl reports from CBS Skywatch.

A woman was shot and critically wounded in the South Shore neighborhood Thursday afternoon. Around 4 p.m., the woman was shot at 6826 S. Cornell Ave., just south of Jackson Park. She was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
