Bosses at Countess of Chester Hospital ‘facilitated a mass murderer’ - Child I’s mother told inquiry chair Lady Thirlwall that senior management should face sanctions if they ignore concerns raised by whistleblowers.

Executives at the hospital where Lucy Letby attacked and killed babies have told a public inquiry they had never tried to "suppress concerns" about the nurse. However, the four former senior managers at the Countess of Chester Hospital said they were "deeply sorry" to her victims' families for "keeping them in the dark".

The NHS was rocked by a similarly grim case in the early 90s, when nurse Beverley Allitt was jailed for killing four infants.

Hospital bosses at the institution where Lucy Letby worked "facilitated a mass murderer" after ignoring concerns raised, an inquiry has determined.
