Rapper Eve is gearing up to release her memoir, 'Who’s That Girl?' where she reflects on advice Jay-Z offered early in her career.

Evereleased her new memoir “Who’s That Girl?” which detailed the humble beginnings of her career. One of the excerpts that has people buzzing is when the emcee said she received a phone call from Jay-Z.

Eve wasn’t going to let anyone stop her from cementing her place in Hip-Hop, especially JAY-Z. Back when she dropped her debut album, Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady, she recalled in her memoir,

Eve caused a stir online after revealing JAY-Z warned her female rappers “don’t really do that well,” on the day she dropped her debut album.

Eve said that after her debut album came out, Jay-Z told her to keep her hopes in check because female rappers “don’t really do that well.”

Eve also revealed that a music executive once told her to stop making music and focus on getting pregnant. Her label discouraged her from making her hit record, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” with Gwen Stefani. The song topped the charts, climbing to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and later won a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2002.

Eve released her debut album, Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady, which sold over 210,000 in its first week. According to Eve, Jay-Z called her at the time to congratulate her, but also told her that her success would be shortlived.
